Nevada is not immune from the partisan divisions that are crippling the nation. One needs to only look at the three petitions filed in October, 2017 to recall three Democratic state senators, a move criticized by both Democratic and Republican state elected officials. Voter interest in elections is low as evidenced by voter turnout; less than 20 percent in closed primaries and between 65 and 75 percent in the general election. Both the Democratic and Republican Party lose voter share every month (with rare exception) while the share for Non-Partisan and minor political parties grows. This will only change when we end the rhetoric and get back to a place where elected officials collaborate with each other to reach solutions. As long as the priority is what is best for the party rather than for all Nevadans, this will not change. Election reform is a path to the solution.
